Maybe you’ll fail to follow the usual rules about how to attract a partner, and create a dating profile where you finally admit that your ideal date would petsit your lizard, collaborate on DIY wainscoting projects, and know all the lines and choreography from The Pirate Movie (the Director’s Cut, obviously).
Maybe you’ll submit a short story to 100 literary journals, collect 100 rejection letters, write a short story about your 100 rejections, get that story rejected, and then publish it anyway by paying $178,000 to have it printed as a full-page ad in the New York Times.
